What is a PAYBACK point worth?
A PAYBACK point has a base value of 1 cent when redeemed as a reward or shopping voucher. If you transfer the points 1:1 to Miles & More and redeem them for a Business Class flight, the value rises to about 2.5 cents per point. For First Class even to about 5 cents.
How do I transfer PAYBACK to Miles & More?
In the PAYBACK app under "Redeem points" → "Miles & More" you can convert your points 1:1 into miles. The transfer takes a few days. 1-2 times a year (usually January and June) there are transfer bonus promotions with 20-25% extra miles.
What is a Miles & More mile worth?
The value of a mile depends on the redemption. For Economy flights it is about 1 cent, for Business Class about 2.5 cents and for First Class about 5 cents per mile. For merchandise rewards or upgrades the value is often below 1 cent — award flights are the best redemption.
Is it worth buying miles?
It depends on the purchase price. Below 0.5 cents per mile it is a very good deal. Between 0.5 and 1.0 cents it is fair if you want to fly Business Class. Above 1.5 cents per mile it rarely pays off — then the cash fare is often cheaper. Free offers (0 cents) are always worth it.
How do I calculate the cents-per-mile value?
The formula is: (cash price - taxes/fees) / miles used × 100 = cents per mile. From 2 ct/mile an award flight is a good deal (Business Class level), from 3 ct/mile it is very good (First Class level). Below 1 ct/mile the cash fare is often the better choice.
What is the best AMEX MR transfer partner?
The best transfer rate from AMEX MR is 5:4 (1,000 MR = 800 miles) to British Airways Avios, Iberia Avios, Flying Blue and SAS EuroBonus. Since August 2025, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Delta, Etihad and Qatar have the worse rate of 3:2. Emirates has the worst rate at 2:1 and is not recommended.
