Miles & More Becomes Lufthansa Group Miles & More: What Changes (and What Doesn't)
Miles & More will be renamed Lufthansa Group Miles & More at the end of 2026 — with a new logo and design. What happens to your miles, your status and your credit cards, and why the real changes are happening elsewhere.
Status:
Quick answer: Miles & More will be called Lufthansa Group Miles & More from the end of 2026. The rebrand brings a new logo, a refreshed design and the brand tagline “Moments that move you” — but as things stand, no changes to earning, redeeming, status levels or existing accounts. Your miles stay, your status stays, your credit card keeps working. Action required: none.
The Lufthansa Group has announced via press release that it will rename its frequent flyer program at the end of 2026: Miles & More becomes Lufthansa Group Miles & More. Here’s what’s behind it — and what it really means for your miles.
What Exactly Was Announced
The key points of the announcement:
- New name: Lufthansa Group Miles & More, planned for the end of 2026
- New corporate design: The already unveiled logo combines the familiar Miles & More wordmark with the Lufthansa Group umbrella brand
- New brand tagline: “Moments that move you” — the focus is set to shift more towards experiences, including beyond flying (shopping, dining, everyday life)
- Strategy: The program is to be positioned more visibly as the connecting loyalty program of the entire Lufthansa Group — across Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels, Discover & Co. The individual airline brands will remain.
What Does NOT Change for You
This is the most important part: The Lufthansa Group has announced no changes to the program terms. Concretely, as things stand:
| Area | Status |
|---|---|
| Mileage balance | Remains unchanged |
| Earning & redeeming | No announced changes |
| Status (FTL, Senator, HON) | No announced changes |
| Existing accounts | Remain in place, no re-registration announced |
| Miles & More credit cards | Continue as before (issuer remains Deutsche Bank) |
Official confirmation of every detail (e.g. whether truly nobody has to re-confirm anything) is still pending — but the announcement implies no action is needed. We’ll update this article as soon as there’s news.
The Real Changes Happened Elsewhere
The new name is cosmetic. The developments that actually affect your mileage account happened in parallel over the past year and a half:
1. Dynamic Award Pricing (since June 2025)
Award flights with Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian no longer have fixed award chart prices — mileage prices fluctuate with demand, similar to cash fares. In practice, Business Class award flights have become noticeably more expensive, especially through higher surcharges. How to still find good prices is covered in the award flight guide.
2. Business Light Fare (since the end of May 2026)
On many long-haul routes, the cheapest Business Class award is now a Business Light fare: only one checked bag instead of two, paid seat reservation and more expensive rebooking (500 instead of 300 euros). Lounge access, Fast Lane and Priority Boarding remain included. So look closely at which fare is behind the lowest mileage price when booking.
3. Points & Qualifying Points Instead of Status Miles (since 2024)
Status has been running on Points and Qualifying Points since 2024 (FTL: 650 Points + 325 QP, Senator: 2,000 + 1,000, HON: 4,500 + 2,500 over two years). The rebrand doesn’t change any of that.
What You Should Do Now: Nothing — Except Keep Collecting
There’s no reason to burn or hoard miles because of the rebrand. The most sensible strategy remains the same:
- Collect miles systematically — via Miles & More credit cards* (Gold: 4,000 miles welcome bonus) and the PAYBACK transfer (1:1)
- Redeem with a concrete goal instead of stockpiling — dynamic pricing rewards flexibility
- Take current promotions along: The Premium Economy summer boost runs until 31 August 2026 (50% more Points and Qualifying Points on intercontinental Premium Economy flights), and Discover Airlines flights earn double award miles after registration (by 30 September 2026) for flights from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to re-register with Lufthansa Group Miles & More?
As things stand, no. The rebrand affects the name, logo and communication — existing accounts continue. There is no announcement to the contrary.
Will my miles expire because of the rebrand?
No, the rebrand doesn’t change your mileage balance. The normal expiry rules continue to apply — with a Miles & More credit card, miles don’t expire anyway as long as you use the card.
Does my Frequent Traveller / Senator / HON status change?
No changes to the status program have been announced. The thresholds (FTL: 650 Points + 325 QP, Senator: 2,000 + 1,000) remain in place as things stand.
Why is Lufthansa renaming the program?
The Lufthansa Group is positioning its umbrella brand more strongly towards private customers. The new name is meant to show that the program connects all the group’s airlines (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels, Discover) — not just Lufthansa itself.
When exactly does the new name arrive?
At the end of 2026. The Lufthansa Group has not yet named an exact date.
Conclusion: Stay Calm, Keep Collecting
The rebrand to Lufthansa Group Miles & More is a marketing decision, not a program reform. Your miles, your status and your cards are not affected. The genuinely relevant developments — dynamic pricing and Business Light — run independently of it and are, if anything, an argument for redeeming miles purposefully and promptly instead of hoarding them for years.
